HobbyKing turbine — I bet that’s got your attention! This edition of the “not so weekly – weekly news” was filmed in my living-room, because it’s mid-winter – which means both my workshop and my office are freezing cold. In the review queue – an RC model plane that isn’t an RC plane at all (at least not according to NZ’s equivalent of the FAA). An ultra micro FPV camera from SecurityCamera2000 will be going on my RadJet 420 and, when it arrives, my Walkera Ladybird quadcopter. Here’s a link to a video that shows someone FPVing the Walkera Ladybird already (incredible!): www.youtube.com Camera link: www.securitycamera2000.com The VDM5 2-way and 1-way compatible parkflier receiver from FrSky arrives and will be going in the RadJet 420 A three-axis gyro stabilization board from HiModel.com that I’ll be comparing to the FY30A And a set of lovely royal-blue anodized turbine mounting brackets from HobbyKing — maybe that’s a clue as to what’s inside that other box which arrived just yesterday. Build video for the FPV backpack will be up soon — I promise! Hmm… I wonder what’s in that box…

They are called ‘micro fpv systems’ or ‘nano’ sized systems. A few places sell them – try fpvhobby dot com for a larger selection – and their video transmitters run nicely on a common 1S battery.

So that FrSky receiver will bind with the turnigy 9x after you modify it with the DIY kit as you have shown in a previous video? What’s the range?

Well, these kind of cameras are put to mobile phones, and many are capable of recording HD, so no suprise here. But nice to have one ready for FPV.

For Australian viewers, according to CASA a model plane less than 100g IS a model aircraft, BUT it is exempt from the CASA rules, so the situation is for all practical purposes exactly the same as Bruce describes for NZ. Don’t blame me though if your Radjet flies into a jumbo jet at 5000 feet.

Bruce, got a question. Have you been able to come up with a way to make the Flytech gogles fit your face better. They work great, but fit very badely.
